Knit a cropped, oversized slipover with a tall folded turtleneck, broad shoulders and a clean vertical rib texture. Rounded I-cord edges frame the generous armholes, creating a relaxed layer to wear over a shirt or dress.

The front and back are worked separately from the bottom up in 1 × 1 rib with integrated I-cord edges. Shaped necklines and sloped shoulders are followed by shoulder and lower side seams. The collar is picked up and knitted in the round, with decreases and a smaller needle shaping the upper section before it is folded outward.

  • Skill level: Intermediate; includes maintaining ribbing through shaping, mirrored neck decreases, stepped shoulder bind-offs, seaming, picking up stitches and working the collar in the round
  • Sizes: Seven adult sizes, XS to 3XL, designed with approximately 31–34 cm / 12.2–13.3 in of positive ease; choose by your full bust measurement and desired oversized fit
  • Yarn: Smooth, elastic worsted-weight wool, merino or a resilient wool blend, approximately 180–220 m / 197–240 yd per 100 g; allow 850–1600 m / 930–1750 yd depending on size
  • Needles: 4.5 mm / US 7 for the main panels, 4 mm / US 6 for the lower-edge setup and collar pickup, and 3.5 mm / US 4 for the upper collar, or sizes needed to obtain gauge
  • Blocked gauge: 18 stitches and 26 rows = 10 cm / 4 in in relaxed 1 × 1 rib for the body; approximately 22 stitches and 30 rounds = 10 cm / 4 in for the upper collar
  • Notions: Stitch markers, waste yarn or stitch holders, a tapestry needle, tape measure and blocking supplies
  • Construction: Bottom-up panels worked flat, joined shoulders and lower sides, integrated I-cord armhole edges and a folded collar worked in the round
