Knit a softly oversized sweater with a mohair halo, a round neckline and generous balloon sleeves. Large stockinette stitches give the fabric its simple, cosy character, while narrow i-cord edges finish the neckline, hem and cuffs.

What you will knit

A seamless pullover worked from the top down in the round. A provisional neckline and German short rows shape the back neck, followed by the raglan yoke and straight body. The sleeves stay full through most of their length before gathering near the wrist. Applied i-cord finishes every edge.

Sizes and fit

Seven sizes: XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL and 3XL.
To fit bust: 78–140 cm / 30¾–55 in.
Finished bust: 115.5–166 cm / 45½–65¼ in.

Designed with 26–39.5 cm of positive ease for a generous, relaxed silhouette. Choose your size using your actual bust and the finished measurements.

Skill level

Confident advanced beginner to intermediate. Techniques include circular knitting, raglan increases, a provisional cast-on, German short rows, sleeve decreases and applied i-cord finishing. Technique explanations are included.

Yarn, needles and gauge

  • Hold a bulky wool or wool-alpaca yarn together with laceweight brushed mohair-silk. Suggested yarn specifications are 130 m per 100 g for the bulky strand and 210 m per 25 g for the mohair strand.
  • Each strand requires 900–1,500 m / 985–1,640 yd, depending on size. Both yarns need the full listed length. Follow the size-specific quantities in the PDF.
  • Use 8 mm / US 11 circular needles, or the size needed to match the blocked gauge. DPNs or magic loop can be used for the sleeves.
  • Blocked gauge: 13 stitches and 18 rounds per 10 cm / 4 in in stockinette with both strands held together.
